Heart to Heart

The stories featured here are presented by the dogs' owners.  I thought you might enjoy reading some of their heartfelt moments.  Thanks to everyone for sharing and for giving my dogs great homes.  I have also provided a Gallery for your viewing pleasure.  (If your dog's photo was on any of the the Heart to Heart pages, and you can no longer locate it, the photo has been moved to the Gallery.)

"Indi"

"Hi Barbara!  You may not remember me but, I bought a puppy from you over 9 years ago.  I called several years ago, because he was throwing up and wouldn't eat.  After 6 weeks of dozens of trips to the vet, every test imaginable and much worry for our family, they finally took "Indi" in for surgery and discovered that he'd eaten a clear plastic deli bag that had some turkey in it.  It wasn't showing up on any of the X-rays because it was clear.  The vet told me that "Indi" had such a will to live....poor little guy went through sooooo much before they finally figured out what was wrong with him, and he'd lost an incredible amount of weight.    Well, here he is years later, at age 9, and still acting like a puppy.  He's been such a wonderful dog....incredibly smart and loyal. "

"One of my favorite stories about "Indi" has to do with our pool.  He acts as the lifeguard anytime anyone, especially any of the kids, is in the pool.  If a head goes under water, he barks like crazy.  It can be annoying, but we all know that he feels it's his duty to inform us of anyone going under water.   One day, my friend's daughter, 8 years old, was flailing around in the deep end of the pool.  She had a vest on, was just playing, but "Indi" didn't realize that.  He jumped into the pool (he loves to swim), swam over to one of the floating "noodle" toys, positioned it under his chin, then swam across the pool pushing the noodle in front of him until he got to the little girl.  He then released the noodle and pushed it to her with his nose.  Had she really been in trouble, he would have saved her.  We were all incredibly impressed....what a smart thing for a dog to do.  I'm still not sure how he ever realized that the noodles float and would be a help."

"Just thought I'd say "thanks" on this holiday of Thanksgiving and forward on this picture of "Indi" in the back yard.  He's brought us all so much joy over the years.  Hope all is well with you.  The puppies on your site look adorable.  Take care, and thanks again."   Owner - Kim

"Harry"
(Sire:  Ch. Daisymead's Born In The USA, ECM)

"I thought you might get a kick out of seeing this. I entered Harry in the Veterans Sweeps at Middleburg a couple of weeks ago. It was the first time in the ring for both of us. Harry did better than I did. He was the only entrant, but we had fun (despite the rain). Not too bad for an 10 year old."  (Owner:  Alan)

"Charlie"

"Here are a few new pictures of our "Charlie".  He just went to the groomer today.  He looks great
and has such a soft, shiny coat.  All of our neighbors just love him and he loves everyone.  Hope all is well for you and your family."  (Owners - Karen and Don)

"Penny" and "Chubbs"

"Been wanting to send you a photo of the two pups we picked up from you a few years ago (Addie and Richard). Addie is named "Penny" now, is smart as a whip and very athletic.   Richard's name is "Chubbs".   We tried a few other names for him, but "Chubbs" was the only one that stuck.  He's a bit of a goof, but he is very special :- ) and a real sweetie.   They are doing great!!  People are always stopping me when I am out for our daily walks. Sometimes, even running down the street after us.  They all want to know where I got the two of them and what kind of dogs they are.  Thanks for the great doggies..!!"   (Owners:  Andrew and Patricia)

Daisymead Love In Blue
"Holly Berry"

"Here are pictures of "Holly Berry" at home and at the local Farmers' Market.  She is much loved and very happy.  When our "Max" is no longer with us, we will be looking to add another Daisymead English Cocker to our family to join "Holly Berry".   (Owners:  Linda and Jack)

"Rusty"
( Daisymead's Lion King ex Daisymead's Fit for a Queen)

"Rusty" is 19 months old now and stole our hearts from the moment we got him.  He has a brother, "Tiger" the cat, and they love to play ‘Chase and Tag, You're It’, around the house.
My husband takes "Rusty" for a 2.5 mile walk every morning; rain, shine and even when it is snowing.  He doesn’t care what the weather is like as long as he gets to go for a walk.  When we walk him we are constantly stopped by people who tell us what a beautiful dog he is.  When he returns from his walk he then gets to go for a car ride while I take my daughter to school.  "Rusty" loves to spend every moment with us, whether it is watching TV, riding in the car, taking long walks, or just laying near us.  Boy, can he snore!  He amazes us with his ability to understand what we are saying.  He tilts his head from side to side whenever we talk to him or ask him a question…he’s so cute."

"Well, I just wanted to THANK YOU for breeding such lovely dogs.  We love "Rusty" very much.  God bless you. " Owners:  Dianne and Greg

"Teddy"
(Sire: Daisymead's Lion King)

"My daughter snapped this classic photo of "Teddy" on our patio a few weeks ago.  I thought you might enjoy seeing what a beautiful boy he has become!  He'd been out and about on a canyon hike earlier in the day, so he's not so "groomed" as usual in the pix, but nonetheless, he's a heartbreaker and a family favorite."  Owner - Terri

Daisymead's Dressed to Kill
"Spencer"
(Daisymead's Lion King ex Daisymead's Minnie Mouse)

"He is doing very well in his agility training but, by being very young and inexperienced, is still a little bit of a wild child.   In the bottom photo, he is featured with "Justin" (right), playing on the beach during our vacation in Oregon.  "Spencer" was in puppy agility class and started obedience in January '07.  He is a wild and crazy boy, but I would not trade him for anything."  (Owner: Clydine Crowder)

"Gracie"

"Just wanted to send you an update on our little girl we named "Gracie".  She is doing well here in NJ, and has settled in with her big sister, our Golden Retriever.  The two love to run back and forth in our yard and wrestle in our living room.  The two great each other with kisses when they see each other in the morning.  "Gracie" is doing well with her house breaking.  She is learning to signal at the door when she needs to go.  She still has her accidents but, they are becoming less and less.  Her favorite spot is our couch, snuggling with either me, my husband, or any other human.  My family adores her and come to visit her often.  Thanks again for Gracie!  She is a very sweet, affectionate, and active little girl."  Owner:  Erika

"Wrigley"

Here is a picture of "Wrigley".  She is a gorgeous animal and we all love her.  She loves to cuddle and can never get quite close enough.  She enjoys her twice a day walks to the park where she runs off lead through the woods.  She is not one to miss a meal and starts telling me about an hour before dinner that I should be doing something about that.   Thanks for letting us love "Wrigley".  Owner:  Julie

Daisymead Arthur's Black Morgan
"Morgan"
(BIS/BIS Ch. Daisymead's Playboy, ECM x Daisymead's Lisette Amour)

"I just wanted to drop you quick note to say hello!  "Morgan" is sitting here beside me snoring up a storm (you have to love that about these English).  I was checking my emails and realized I haven't kept in touch as I should.  The year 2007, was a great one.   My daughter, Kaitlyn (she's almost 3 now), started preschool this year and absolutely loves it.  They've started having show and tell on Thursday mornings, and it's based the letter or subject of the week and this week we're going to try and take Morgan (D for dog) if Ms. Britany will let us."

"Morgan" or WooWoo as Kaitlyn calls him, has started acting just like "Victor"!  As much as he looks like "Ferghus" and "Arthur", I expected him to act like those 2 sweet boys.  "Victor" has turned into such an old gentleman though, but when he's ready for a meal (as I'm sure Mom & Dad have told you) he's ready.  "Morgan" stares me down starting 30 minutes before meal time, he's too funny.  Kaitlyn is big enough now that she can help with feeding time and has the best time doing it!  "Morgan" always gets a Kaitlyn sized handful of food while I'm getting everything ready.  Anyway, I just wanted to let you my sweet "Morgan" is doing really well and is loved more and more everyday.  Thank you so much for taking care of this wonderful breed and allowing families like mine to have them in their lives."    Owner:  Laine

"Gizmo"
(Sire:  BIS/BISS Ch. Daisymead's Playboy, ECM)

"I bought a male English Cocker from you four years ago).  He was sired by Playboy.  He is absolutely the friendliest, most personable dog I have ever owned.  His registered name is Playboy's Little Blue Gizmo ("Gizmo" for short).  I purchased "Gizmo" as a 'transition' dog for my family, as my American Cocker ("Canter") was 15 years old and was not expected to live much longer.  After "Gizmo" arrived, "Canter" seemed to perk-up and ended up living another two years."  (Owner:  Myles)

"Tobie"

"Hello,  my name is Michelle.  I live in Japan, with my husband Mark and our four children-Samantha 13,  Jacob 12, Marcia 10 and Abigail 7.
We got our beautiful English Cocker Spaniel puppy here in  Japan, a few years ago.  Her name is Ambrosia of Dog Stadium, but we  call her "Tobie".   We recently had her bred and her first litter of pups is due in the 3rd week of November.  When we were looking for a possible male EC,  we discovered that "Tobie" has one of your ECs in here lines.   I think her grandsire was BIS Ch. Daisymead's Birth of  the Blues.   We looked you up and have had so much fun viewing your website.   Our dog became even more special when we realized she  came from your kennel in the USA.   She is black and white and very  pretty,  she's very obedient and is great with our kids and friends, too.

She was bred to an Australian champion here in Japan.  We are looking forward to seeing her puppies soon.  We have been in Japan a long time now, doing all kinds of work with Christian International Asia.   Japanese people just love animals,  especially dogs.  Well,  I just wanted to write and say THANK YOU for breeding such lovely animals.  We have enjoyed our "Tobie" very much.  God bless you."  Owner:  Michelle

"Winston"

"We finally got some great shots of "Winston" and wanted to share them with you.  He has been a delight!!!!!!!  Mike and I and both of our other dogs really love him.  He is still a first class face licker and is incredibly loveable.   "Winston" is, by far, our smartest dog and that means he's also been our biggest challenge.  We have to find activities to keep his mind working.

His favorite things are his big sister, Stevie (1/2 Lab, 1/2 Golden), and loves outdoor activities like swimming and exploring the woods at our cabin.  We hope to get him involved in Flyball this winter as he is incredibly fast.   Christy won second place with him in her first grooming competition last February."
(Owners:  Mike and Christy)

"Huxley"
(right)

"Our boy turned a year old a few weeks ago and we just wanted to tell you how much we have enjoyed him.  As you can see in the picture, he has a sister and they play continuously!  He has the most  luscious hair we have ever seen on a dog or human.  He just got his summer cut, but he is still gorgeous.  He has turned out to
have one of the most pleasant personalities.  He has one emotion ---Happy!
Thanks again for such a wonderful addition to our family.  Take care.  (Owners:  Jennie & Jeff)

"Joey"
(Sire:  BIS BISS Ch. Daisymead's Playboy, ECM)

"Five years ago,  I purchased a black English cocker from you.  I  wanted you to know that your breed is the best!  Everywhere I go with my baby, I always appreciate the nice compliments on my "Joey from Loxahatchee, FL".  I am attaching one of his photos for your album so that you may view him with your others.   He's one of the finest babies I've ever had."
Owner - Bill

"Mindy"
(Ch. Daisymead's King's Ransom ex Daisymead's Alice Blue Gown)

"Hi Barb!  I just wanted to send you a picture of "Maia" and "Mindy" in one of their beds.  This one is on my kitchen floor.  "Mindy" is a little hard to see since she's so dark, but they're getting along wonderfully.  I don't have a good "family" shot of all of us yet, but maybe this weekend.  We're going on a family trailer trip, so maybe I can convince one of my kids to take a picture of us all, together."  Owner - Deb

Daisy McNamara

"Daisy" has turned out to be a first class pup - she is wonderful.  Her nature and personality are just   Every day we walk in the park,  unless it is pouring of rain then we give it a miss.  Although the snow has now disappeared "Daisy" absolutely loved her time playing and walking in the snow.  We had a trip back to the UK over the Christmas period and she spent about 10 days in a '5 star' pet hotel where she enjoyed playing with other dogs (she is very social), having lots of recreation and also swim days.  We even had a report card and she scored top marks.  We love her to bits."
"P.S.  "Woof" from "Daisy" xxxxx"  (Owners Yvonne & Dennis)

Daisymead Chantilly Lace and Daisymead My Special Angel

"Lacey" (blue roan) & "Angel" (black) are both Ch. Daisymead's Playboy, ECM daughters. They are absolute joys for our family! "Lacey", 7 yrs., is the alpha dog and "Angel", 2 yrs., is the clown.  They have terrific personalities, are irresistible beggars for treats, and love to run and play in their big backyard.  Mostly, they want to be with us -- sprawled across our laps while we watch TV or snuggled in between us on the patio glider.  We can't imagine our lives without them!"    (Owners:  Jim, Rosemarie & Stephen)

"Tessa"
(Sire:   Daisymead's Lion King)

"We received a puppy from you in October 2006, that we have named Tessa.  She is SO wonderful!  We, and everyone we know, love her..........such a charmer.   We started puppy school, and she is the star of course!
Thanks so much for sending her to us. "     (Owner:  Nichole)

Ch. Bravo's Piece of Cake
"Cookie"
(BISS/BIS Ch. Daisymead's Cardiac Arrest ex Ch. Daisymead's Count Yo Blessings)

"Here's a photo of her that we like best.  We consider "Cookie" - BOP (Best Of Pets)!"
(Owners:  George and Edie)

"Timmy"

Merry Christmas 2006 from "Timmy"

"Timmy" is adjusting quite well in California.   He loves the outdoors, specially the hill with the trees and ivy.  We have brought him several stuff ducks, which he carries around the house. He is sleeping by my chair right now.  He is definitely a mommy boy, at least that’s what my husband keeps saying".  (Owner:  Sharon)

"Annie" aka "Autumn"
(Dam: Ch. Topper's Makin' Whoopi)

Here are a couple of photos of "Annie" playing in the St. Vrain river.   This is what we do every evening after dinner.  The dogs depend on being able to go play in the creek and run around the park in the grass.  "Annie" loves to play with socks, also.  She will carry our socks around the house with her.  She doesn't chew them or damage them in any way, but she always wants a sock to carry around in the evening.  Is that something she did with you?  She also has gotten very camera shy.  I call her my little Native American.  She's afraid I'm going to capture her soul.  Other than those two things, "Annie" has turned out to be the most charming, funny, sweet, intelligent dog that we have ever had.  She is just a treat to have in our household.  She loves the kitties.  Also, "Kit" and "Annie" have become very BEST friends.  Thanks so much for thinking we would be a good fit as a family.  (Owner:  Mimi)
